Andrew Mount has had plenty of success this week in our World Pool Betting Tournaments,  he has highlighted some runners that have caught his eyes on the final day of Goodwood.

13:05 - British European Breeders Fund EBF Maiden Stakes

The opening 7f maiden has cut up to just nine runners and now looks manageable from a punting perspective. I’m going with experience in the Placepot and will be including Richard Hannon’s CLASSIC and Charlie & Mark Johnston’s LOYAL TOUCH. Both yards have a good record in this race. Loyal Touch was sent off as favourite for last month’s debut at Salisbury, despite his wide draw, and did well to finish a close third after running green. Classic also displayed obvious signs of inexperience on his debut, doing best of those to come from off the pace when fourth at Newbury. Both are well drawn and will form the foundation of my Tote trifecta perms.

13:40 - Stewards' Sprint Handicap (Consolation race for The Stewards' Cup)

Only 12 go to post for the Stewards’ Cup consolation race (1.40) and the obvious one is LETHAL LEVI. He never saw a rival when landing a 19-runner 6f heritage handicap at Newmarket’s July festival and was always in command when following up over the same course and distance. The handicapper has shoved him up another 8lb but there could be plenty left in the tank.

Lethal Levi -Jimmy Quinn wins
The Bet Boost At bet365 Handicap (Heritage Handicap) Newmarket 6.7.2022

I doubt he’s going to be much of a price, but we can bank on him in the Tote trifecta and throw in THE LAMPLIGHTER for second place. George Baker’s seven-year-old is something of a course expert and has a habit of finishing second. Maybe include the other ten runners for third place and hope for an outsider. If Lethal Levi is as good as I think then we can also bank on him in the Tote Scoop6 (which consists of races 2-7 at Goodwood) and give ourselves a real chance of winning a big pot.

14:10 - Summer Handicap

The Johnston yard has enjoyed considerable success in the 1m6f Summer Handicap, sending out seven winners from 35 runners in the past 20 years for a profit of £38.50 to a £1 level stake at SP. I’ve made a fool of myself in the past (as recently as this Tuesday in fact) when trying to pick between the yard’s multiple entries in Glorious Goodwood handicaps but I’m strong on the hat-trick seeking SOAPY STEVENS over THEMAXWECAN (best in small fields and first-time visor a negative stat for the yard) and GOLDEN FLAME, who has a poor record on right-handed tracks. BAGUE D’OR has form figures since gelded of 12162211 (4-8) and looks another to include in the Placepot and Scoop6.

 14:45 - Lillie Langtry Stakes (Group 2)

The Group 2 Lillie Langtry Stakes (2.10) features the shortest price favourite of the day, 13-8 shot SEA LA ROSA. She’s going in the Placepot and Scoop6 but not on her own. FORBEARANCE has been a little underwhelming this year but could bounce back under Hollie Doyle and she also warrants respect.

SEA LA ROSA and Tom Marquand wins at HAYDOCK PARK 28/5/22

15:20 - Stewards' Cup (Heritage Handicap)

MR WAGYU has won 15 of his 29 starts in June/July (+£70.35 to a £1 level stake at SP) and landed the Stewards’ Cup consolation race 12 months ago on his only previous visit to this venue. He’s better than ever at the age of seven and looks the answer to this year’s main event (3.20). I thought WHENTHEDEALINSDONE would make up into a Group performer this year – he still might – and he’s also included, despite the suspicion that he’s best at 5f.

15:55 - Medallia Handicap

The 7f three-year-old handicap (3.55) looks tricky, and we’ll be doing well to find a horse to place, let alone win. GALIAC was only third of seven when fancied at Sandown last time, but he usually struggles in small fields, often failing to settle.

Galiac -Luke Morris wins The William Hill Harroways Handicap (Class 2) Goodwood 21.5.2022

He’s won his last three starts in fields of ten or more runners and looks well drawn in stall 2. GISBURN was poorly drawn behind Lethal Levi at Newmarket last time and could go well at a price.

16:30 - Federation Of Bloodstock Agents Handicap

Goodwood’s 1m1f finale forms the final leg of the Scoop6 and well done if you’re still going. There’s plenty of pace on here and I’ll be perming the hold-up horses in my Tote trifecta. GENERAL LEE, JUNKANOO, FANTASY BELIEVER and BOLTHOLE all like to come from off the pace and should have the race run to suit.
