Tote Ambassador Danny Mullins gives us his thoughts on his rides for Day 3 of the Irish Grand National meeting at Fairyhouse.

2:05 - Mythical Hero

My first ride is for Mags Mullins - my mother. He’s been a little bit disappointing since winning a Maiden Hurdle at Cork earlier in the year. But his Ballinrobe run the last day showed a little bit of spark. Possibly an outsider's chance in that. The ground shouldn’t be an issue with the rain falling.

2:40 - Rebel Step

I ride for Andrew Slattery here. He won nicely and battled well at Limerick. I think he’s a horse who is learning how to settle and I like how he battled on in the last furlong at Limerick. This is a big step up in class and he’ll do well to compete with Icare Allen, but I think he has a good chance of being placed here.

3:15 - Song Of Earth

He’s second reserve for Mags Mullins. He won nicely over fences the last day at Fairyhouse. If we were to get in I think off 10-07 he’d have a decent chance in this race.

3:50 - Heaven Help Us

Riding for Paul Hennessy in this race. She ran a solid race at Cheltenham the last time. The ground was probably on the quick side for her at Cheltenham. The weights and off her rating it puts her in here with a good chance. Probably the one to beat is Thedevilscoachman but if Heaven Help Us gets back to her best I think she has a good chance in it.

5:00: Irish Grand National - Mister Fogpatches

I think of 10-06 over this kind of trip, it should give him a decent chance. The only thing you’d be concerned about is has the handicapper got hold of him. He’s ran well in quite a few of these big handicap chases since winning at Punchestown last year. He was 3rd in the Troytown and placed in the Thyestes at Gowran earlier in the season, which Longhouse Poet really franked that form at Aintree. If he can get back to his best, I think he’ll have a good each way chance in it.

5:40 - History Of Fashion

Also riding for Pat Fahy. Pulled up the last day at Ayr, never really seemed to be going for Phillip Enright that day. If he can get back to his previous Navan placed effort he could have a chance. But he really needs to find an even keel again.
