Irish eyes will be smiling on Gowran Park this Thursday afternoon for the Thyestes Chase - one of Ireland's most eagerly anticipated races in the calendar.

It's a day that regularly showcases some of the top Jumps talent in Ireland, with recent winners going on to either win or be placed in the Gold Cup at Cheltenham or the Grand National at Aintree.

Tote ambassador Danny Mullins won the Thyestes back in 2020 with Total Recall, and gives us his thoughts on his four rides at Gowran Park this Thursday...

1:00pm Langtons Kilkenny Handicap Hurdle

My first ride is Shantou Sisu. She has a good bit of form on heavy ground, and with conditions likely to be fairly tough, I'd give him a big chance. He had a nice run the last day in Clonmel and I think he's a solid place contender. He's off a nice mark of 93, a couple of pounds higher than his last winning mark and I think he'll go very close.

2:05pm John Mulhern Galmoy Hurdle (Grade 2)

Mr Adjudicator lines up in the Galmoy Hurdle. Obviously, it will be very hard to beat Klassical Dream, but I think he'll improve a lot from Leopardstown, where he was well beaten by Klassical Dream but that was after a two year layoff. Going back to this lad's juvenile form, he ran some decent races in Grade One's and was also a good performer on the Flat so I think this lad could outrun his price.

3:05pm Goffs Thyestes Handicap Chase

Augusta Gold runs in the Thyestes. She's a Mare that I've had plenty of success on and I think back on a bit of slow ground, again at a track like Gowran Park where it takes an awful lot of jumping, I think this will really suit here. At Leopardstown the last day, she just didn't get away early and was never really in a rhythm and with the ground being a bit quicker it would have never suited her. I think back to conditions in Gowran being tough, the going should suit her and hopefully she can bounce back to form.

3:35pm Daly Farrell Chartered Accountants Beginners Chase

Fox Watch runs in the Beginners Chase, it's quite a hot race. Coeur Sublime obviously sets the standard and You Raise Me Up is a pretty decent horse too. If Fox Watch can give a good account of himself then I think he could be one to keep an eye on in future handicaps. But he should learn a lot from this race and see where he ends up.
