Mark Whittle scooped over £10,000 for his emphatic victory in the Jumps Finale tournament.

The 35-year-old amassed over £6,800 of profit on Saturday and was a comfortable victor in the final event by over £500.

A regular Tote player, Whittle managed to finish in the top 10 of two Tournaments before the invitation only Jumps Series Finale, Whittle said: “I qualified twice, in January and over the Dublin Racing Festival as well. It doesn’t get you any extra but I suppose it knocks one more competitor out doesn’t it.”

Local to Haydock, the Racing Post worker planned his angle of attack from the Merseyside track and found plenty of winners on the card.

“Papa Cocktail came in for me at Haydock. The returns propelled me up the leaderboard, into the top three I think.

“I had Stormy Sea at Haydock as well, I had a good go because it was around even money. Rainbow Fire also went in.

“I was betting away from Haydock too, Jonbon was a decent winner. Echoes In Rain as well.”

Largely a win only punter, Whittle explained his methodology with his Tote punting and his angles of attack in the pools markets, “I think the Tote used to struggle with other firms because they couldn’t offer best odds guaranteed, which the Tote could never do because you can't take the price.

“But, now, the Tote Guarantee brings them back into the argument. It’s the same with a few things like that, Tote+ - I always do my Placepots on the website so I can get the 10% bonus.”

Clearly a shrewd punter, Mark explained the draw of competing in the Tote Betting Tournaments and why he enjoys the Tote products, he said: “I did my Placepots and I did my Trifecta in the morning… with the different Tote products it’s quite easy to put a little bit on to win a substantial amount which will see you up the leaderboard.

“I had £30 on the Trifecta, I felt like it was worth doing that in a couple of races.”

As the Jumps Series is now over and Champion is crowned, it’s now time to begin the Flat Campaign of Tournaments which again will be centered around the British and Irish World Pools.

Perhaps more of Jumps bettor than the Flat, Whittle said he still might dabble in the World Pool this weekend, he said: “I’m on a stag do this weekend, potentially (I’ll play this weekend). I’m more of a Jumps punter but I do play on the bigger days on the Flat.”

As for the money won, Whittle was thrilled that the cash wasn’t moving far from the Tote’s Wigan Head Office. He said: “It’s also nice to keep the money in Wigan.

“I got £10,000 in cash minutes after the Tournament finished and I got £360+ for the Beat Benson pool too.”

You can play against Mark and a host of other Tote players including Harry Findlay, Andrew Mount and Rory Delargy!
