Danny Sarling, a director at a London-based cleaning company mopped up the rollover Scoop6 win fund on Saturday and could now be set to spruce up his winnings to over £367,000 in this weekend’s bonus race.

Based in Essex, Sarling placed a £16 Scoop6 perm of eight £2 lines last Saturday, but cleaned up the £167,710.77 win pot with just one £2 line, making him the sole winner, and now has the chance to take home the £200,308.02 bonus fund if he can find the winner of the Great St Wilfrid Stakes at Ripon this Saturday.

“It was incredible. I didn’t actually realise I’d won the Scoop because I was out for lunch with my wife, so I’d recorded the racing to watch when I got back in. It was mid-afternoon by the time I’d got back in-front of the TV so I was watching the recording of the first few races and thought I’m doing alright here and had a few single winners as well, so was already in a good profit for the day.

“I’d just watched leg four, which was my biggest priced winner, and thought I had a real chance when I got the call from bet365 to say congratulations on winning the Scoop6 and get ready for the bonus race next week.

“It was just unbelievable. There’s a few things to do around the house and maybe a nice holiday to get sorted.”

Had he placed his bet directly through the Tote website or app, rather than an online bookmaker, he could have already been close to another £16,771 richer with the 10% boost on the dividend thanks to Tote+.

However, another costly mistake could have been not to follow the advice of a leading newspaper tipster, who Danny says assisted him in winning the Scoop6.

“Other than the favourites that I’d picked out, Pricewise is to thank for the first of my bigger priced selections that won as he’d put up Themaxwecan in the Racing Post, who won leg two and blew the Scoop6 open really.

“I remembered when Frankie Dettori had the Magnificent Seven at Ascot that Pricewise had put up a bigger priced selection for Frankie that day that ended up winning, and things like that just always stick with you.”

“I’m also a big fan of Jessica Harrington’s horses, so that is why I picked Jungle Cove in the fourth leg. They always seem to have a bit of class and you know that when she brings one across to England that it must have some sort of chance, so I was surprised it was such a big price.

As a regular Scoop6 player, Sarling admits he is hoping to follow similar tactics for the bonus race, although a phone-a-friend option might come into the equation.

“I’m a regular player of the Scoop6 whenever it’s on, but I think what has helped me in winning so much is the Scoop6 being available at Goodwood last week. With it having those extra days in addition to the usual Saturday Scoop6, the pot has really got rolling and to win over £167,000 is incredible.

“I’m trying not to think about the bonus race on Saturday just yet. Hopefully Pricewise can help me out with what to pick. I’ve got a few friends involved in racing as well, so I’ll be giving them a ring to see if they have heard anything going into the bonus race with a good chance.”
