About Deauville Racecourse

Deauville racecourse can be found in the heart of racing country in France, located in the Normandy region. With two courses in the area, it is an important hub for flat racing in France. Each August, five Group 1 races take place during the month, including the Prix Maurice de Gheest and the Prix Morny.

The latter named race is an important stepping stone for the best sprinting two-year-olds around and it is widely recognised as one of the top races of its kind in Europe. In 2019, the Prix Maurice de Gheest was won by Advertise, who went on to score in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot.

Deauville itself of course is a wonderful pleasure to visit at any time of the year, but if you go in August you’ll be treated to some top class horse racing. This is of course a very popular seaside town, so there is something for everyone and there are few finer places than Normandy when the sun is shining.
