Piselli Molli
Racecard

Sir Mark Prescott won this in 2016 with a 3yo and holds top claims of repeating that feat with Piselli Molli. This daughter of Dragon Pulse took advantage of a lenient opening handicap mark of 59 back in June, bolting up by over five lengths at Yarmouth. The handicapper took note however and she contests this off 67. She arrives here after a slightly disappointing performance at that same track, where she looked a little short of pace at times but under a more prominent ride she can do better. Morgan Cole takes the ride.

Surac
Racecard

This looks like a decent enough novice contest and with some interesting newcomers lining up here, it’s probably worth a market check beforehand. One of those debutantes, whose profile immediately catches the eye, is Surac. Purchased for £130,000 by Isaac Souede and Simon Munir, this son of Frankel is a full brother to the formerly Aidan O’Brien-trained Old Glory, who was a winner on debut and placed in a Group 3 as a juvenile. Clive Cox’s yard has been in good form of late.

Good American
Racecard

We’re opting for another debutante here, this time in the shape of Good American. By American Pharoah and out of a Group 2 winning mare in Germany, her breeding immediately catches the eye and obviously did so at the sales too, where she was picked up for 125,000 guineas as a yearling. Her sire has a good record with 2yos, with 30% of his offspring scoring on their juvenile debut and this one could bolster that record. Ralph Beckett, who won this race in 2018 with a newcomer, is returning a level stakes profit of +10.41 over the last year with his juveniles first time up.

Tardis
Racecard

We’re siding with Michael Bell’s runner here in this Group 3 contest. Winner of the Listed St Hugh’s Stakes at Newbury last time, that form looks particularly good with the runner-up, Attagirl, winning at the same level next time out. Coming from out the back of the field, he ran on well to get up late on the line. On that evidence, this step up to 6f should suit and he looks like the one to beat. Delmona was back in third that day but it’s difficult to make a case for her reversing form.

About Salisbury Racecourse

Fifteen race meetings are held at Salisbury Racecourse throughout the year. The track itself is situated just three miles south of the city and is known for its stunning views at every spot of the course. The viewing areas overlook the stunning Salisbury and South Wiltshire Golf Courses as well at Salisbury Cathedral.

Unlike the majority of racecourses, Salisbury is not a loop. In fact it is one very long straight with an additional two-furlonged oval that rejoins the racecourse proper to allow races over one mile to take place. There are two Group 3 races that take place at Salisbury, the Sovereign Stakes in August and the Dick Poole Fillies’ Stakes in September.
