This page will explain everything you need to know about text betting at Tote. Below you will find instructions for Text betting, a simple and fast way to bet with us.
What is Text Betting?
It’s designed to save the hassle of needing to log into an app or website and navigate your way to your bet. Instead, you just send us your bet by text message and we recognise it’s you from your mobile number. All texts will be charged at the standard network rate.
How do I get started?
You need a tote.co.uk account with your correct mobile number registered against it.
Make sure you have enough balance in your tote account to cover your bets.
Add our short dial number to your contacts list on your phone. Call us whatever you want in your address book, but our number is 68683. That’s 6-TOTE if you spell it out on the letters on your keypad.
Send your first bet to us. Write the message in a simple format, similar to writing out a betting slip in a bookies:
Win bet: 5 Tiger roll
- There’s no need to write “win”. The system will default to win.
- There’s no need to use currency symbols. The system knows what currency your account is in.
- There’s no need to tell us what race it’s in. If you use the horse name we’ll find it.
- No need for pleasantries. Say “please” or “thank you” and the machine will start looking for horses called Please & Thank You. Keep it minimal.
- Your bet will be settled at the better of the Tote Dividend+10% or SP. You will never get less than SP.
Each Way bet: 5 ew Tiger Roll
You can also write: “5 each way tiger roll” but the system recognises all the standard shortened versions you’d use on a betting slip in the bookies.
Keep a space between your stake and the “ew”. The system likes spaces between instructions.
Straight Exacta:
5 exacta Tiger roll Magic of light
5 fc tiger roll Magic of light
5 forecast Tiger roll magic of Light
- All the above messages will place the same bet.
- The system knows the Tote equivalent of a forecast is an exacta. If you ask for a forecast (or fc) it will give you the exacta.
- You just need spaces between the different horses. No need for commas or other punctuation.
Combination Exactas:
2.5 exacta combination tiger roll magic of light
2.50 rfc tiger roll magic of light
2.5 reverse forecast tiger roll magic of light
2.50 reverse exacta magic of light tiger Roll
- All the above messages will place the same bet (total stake £5.00 in this example)

- All the above will place the same bet (total stake £6.00 in this example)
Trifecta works like Exacta:

Tote+ is only available if you place your bet directly via tote.co.uk or the official tote app. All pools where Tote+ applies are denoted by the inclusion of the ‘tote+’ symbol. Only applied to dividends of 1.20 or above. Tote+ bets will be settled at a value which is 10% bigger than the standard tote dividend.
