Top tipster Kevin O’Malley is focusing on Future Champions Day at Newmarket and some cracking action at York on Saturday. You can find his best ITV Racing bets below, with some value picks to look forward to on a top class afternoon of racing ahead.

Eagle bred to excel over ten furlongs

LONE EAGLE (1.45 Newmarket) has won his last two outings for Martyn Meade and stayed on powerfully to land a decent nursery handicap at Doncaster last time out. He’s good on the clock, improving all the time and looks worthy of his place in this Group class contest.

This step up in trip looks sure to suit on pedigree.

Ruler going right way for Appleby

ONE RULER (2.20 Newmarket) could only manage third behind New Mandate last time out, but Charlie Appleby’s lightly-raced son of Dubawi is progressing with each outing and this race looks well within his compass.

There’s every chance the step up to a mile can bring about more improvement and he’s an exciting prospect.

Take a chance on Tactical in open Dewhurst

TACTICAL (2.55 Newmarket) finished a little flat over 6f last time out and Andrew Balding’s charge needs to step up considerably to figure. But this is an experienced horse with stacks of useful form and comparatively good speed figures to his name.

The likes of Chindit and Alkumait will be hard to beat, but Tactical will be a value price and could sneak into the frame.

Outsider Author’s Dream can give Nicholls a big day

AUTHOR’S DREAM (3.35 Newmarket) runs for William Knight and his recent Lingfield winner was immediately targeted here after landing that race in good style. With a low weight, form on softer ground and stamina in abundance, Author’s Dream ticks a lot of boxes for this most demanding of handicap assignments.

Not So Sleepy appeals as a likely winner from the better fancied runners, but don’t discount a big run from William Knight’s inmate.

Ones to watch at York on Saturday

Ben Macdui can appreciate a step up to six furlongs in the 2.00 at York. Kevin Ryan’s juvenile shapes as though he requires further, but boasts promising form over the minimum trip. Crystal Pegasus runs in the 2.35 and could develop into a very smart middle distance performer for Sir Michael Stoute. A handsome chestnut with a big white streak down his face, this son of Australia arrives on a hat-trick and can give top jockey Kevin Stott another winner.
